Later today, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RTM Build 7601.17514.101119-1850 will become available for download to subscribers of Microsoft’s developer and IT professional portals.
I´ve just checked both MSDN and TechNet before starting to write this article, and at this point in time the Windows 7 SP1 downloads have not yet gone live on either of the two sites.

However, it’s February 16th all day today, and also the deadline for the software giant to start offering Windows 7 SP1 RTM to additional customers beyond its OEM partners.

Original equipment manufacturers already received the gold bits of the first upgrade for Windows 7 concomitantly with the software giant announcing the release to manufacturing of Service Pack 1 last week, on February 9th, 2011.

It’s now the turn of those with paid MSDN and TechNet subscriptions to get their hands on Windows 7 SP1 RTM ahead of end users.

Of course, since Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 share the majority of components, the two platforms are also receiving the first upgrade in tandem.

MSDN and TechNet subscribers will be able to download both Windows 7 SP1 RTM and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RTM later today.

The final build string for the service pack is 7601.17514.101119-1850, Microsoft has confirmed officially, which means that this particular release of Windows 7 SP1 was compiled on November 19, 2010.

MSDN and TechNet subscribers are not the only ones to get access to Windows 7 SP1 RTM today. This is also valid for business customers that have volume license agreements inked with Microsoft.

February 22nd, 2011 will mark the general availability of both Windows 7 SP1 RTM and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RTM, on both Microsoft Download Center and on Windows Update.
